A second car ended up crashing into it, which caused both cars to plummet 85 feet into the tent-covered game booths below.
The accident is one that never should have happened at all. It was caused by 90 mph winds.
91-year-old Fred Millard, who was a passenger mounted in the primary gondola car, died. His wife with youthful daughters were among 17 citizens injured occur the accident. One woman was left paralyzed as a incident of the accident. She died set in 1986.
About $10 million was awarded to victims of the accident put in court settlements.
The Swiss Skyride was immediately shut down successive the aftermath. The ride has since been replaced, however.
